Akron is the Summit County seat, about 28 road miles from our base in Brunswick. We paint commercial, institutional and multi-family buildings here, starting with a walkthrough at your building and a written scope and price.
Akron’s commercial buildings
- Health care and education anchor the city: Summa Health System, Akron Children’s Hospital, the University of Akron and Akron General Medical Center are among its ten largest employers, according to the city’s 2024 financial report.
- The city has developed four city-owned industrial parks — Ascot, Massillon Road, North Turkeyfoot and South Munroe — with sites for manufacturing and related industrial use.
- About half of Akron’s occupied homes are rented, out of roughly 92,500 housing units counted in 2020.
- The city’s downtown redevelopment plan calls for 1,200 new residential units, a convention center and more retail, largely through reuse of historic structures.
Planning exterior work in Akron
Akron’s Urban Design and Historic Preservation Commission reviews certificates of appropriateness for altering locally designated historic landmarks. If your building is a local landmark or in a historic district, check with the city before changing its exterior colors.
